Two months of brainstorming, experimenting, and lots of back and forth later, we have a comic about dal chawal, one of India’s most loved comfort foods.
We had so much fun bringing this one to life, and we hope you enjoy reading it just as much!
Here’s the fun part: we’ve left a few panels uncoloured for you to fill in with your own colours and make the comic your own. Because sometimes, the best part of a story is what you add to it.
Comics might have become a bit niche now, but they were such a big part of growing up for many of us.
With Issue 04, we wanted to explore new additions to Tangerine’s print magazine and push the boundaries of our little creative playground.
That’s when we stumbled across Ankita’s work. She’s the kindest, chirpiest person, and when she told us how much she loved comic illustrations, an idea began to take shape.
The spaces we inherit, the spaces we carry, and the ones we make our own.
A few months ago, during a lovely conversation with Manasvi, we discovered that apart from being an architect, she also loves making zines and conducting movement practices, and has built a beautiful community in Indore.
So when we decided to create a mini zine around Issue 04’s theme, Something Borrowed, Something New, she came up with the idea of exploring the spaces we inherit.
From the verandas our grandparents grew up with to the ways our homes have changed across generations, the zine looks at how spaces evolve, what they hold, and how our bodies carry spaces of their own.
We’re so excited to share this little creation with you.
