EDITOR'S NOTE
Living in the fast-paced era where books have been replaced by Kindle, YouTube by Instagram reels and print magazines by digital magazines, it inspired me to create something beautiful. In the midst of this rush, we’ve not only lost our attention spans but also a part of our authentic selves. It’s important to remember that art isn’t about perfection. Art is ugly. Art is confusing. Art is personal. Art is full of flaws. In fact it thrives on its imperfections.
My journey from the ideation to the creation and execution of this magazine began from January 2023. The reason it took me so long to launch it was the illusion & the pressure of crafting something flawless.
The magazine’s initial vision aimed to unveil the unfiltered, natural selves of artists. However, amidst this creative process, I found myself entangled in the relentless pursuit of perfection. Being an artist is no easy task; it involves navigating through intangible ideas that linger in the mind until transformed into a tangible visual display.
The conversations with the featured artists come from a personal space. I had the pleasure of assisting Anchal Notani Anchal Notani for a magazine shoot in December 2021. As a fashion student, I found myself aligned with Anchal’s compelling views on the state of fashion education in India. Shreya’s Shreya’s vintage store, Gon Vintage, is a visual treat. Shaped by her sense of personal style & fashion forecasting, it’s not an ordinary online store but an experience in itself. A chance meeting with Rose Rose in Jibhi back in 2017 introduced me to her work. She shares her profound love for photography along with the wisdom of focusing on the “bigger picture.” The visual story - Beyond the frame Beyond the frame is an exploration aimed at breaking conventional boundaries in visual storytelling.
With all of that presenting to you the first issue featuring raw artistic expressions brought to life by a diverse group of individuals, all united by a shared purpose - the celebration of art and the acknowledgment of struggles that accompany it.
